“…Dendrochronological techniques are widely used in archaeology, building history, and art history for exact dating of the tree‐ring patterns in wood; they can be applied to chronometry, chronology, prehistoric and historical behavioral studies, and paleoenvironmental reconstructions (see Schweingruber, 1988; Baillie, 1995; Nash, 2002). More recent studies of dendrochronological dating and the provenance of timber used in historic buildings can be found in Billamboz (2008), Sass‐Klaasen, Vernimmen, and Baittinger (2008), Querrec et al (2009), and Slayton et al (2009).
