Abstract: Mesenteric vein thrombosis (MVT) is a rare cause of acute abdomen and accounts for only 5-15% of all acute mesenteric ischaemia cases. MVTs are classified as either primary MVT, in which the underlying cause can not be determined, or secondary MVT, in which the etiology can be determined.
