“…pylori eradication have been reported. 7 Previously, we found that probiotics could alleviate patients' discomfort due to antibiotic therapy 34,35 . In the current study we reported an overall incidence of AEs (mostly dizziness, nausea, loose stool, and chest distress) of 16.2%.…”

“…7 Previously, we found that probiotics could alleviate patients' discomfort due to antibiotic therapy. 34,35 In the current study we reported an overall incidence of AEs (mostly dizziness, nausea, loose stool, and chest distress) of 16.2%. These findings are consistent with previous studies, 36,37 possibly because prior probiotic treatment regulates intestinal microflora.…”

“…Moreover, the patient’s compliance was exceptionally nice, and side effects were mild in both regimens (Dore et al 2019b ). Bismuth-containing quadruple therapy (BCQT) with probiotic supplementation could achieve excellent eradication rates and produce fewer side effects (Zhu et al 2018 , 2017 ), even in patients who experienced failing treatment before (Liu et al 2020 ). A meta-analysis showed that, compared with the control group (only BCQT), the probiotic group (BCQT with probiotic supplementation) had a higher eradication rate with statistical significance ( P = 0.000), and fewer adverse reactions were reported in the probiotic group than in the control group ( P = 0.000) (Si et al 2017 ).…”

“…A study from China treated patients with refractory Helicobacter pylori with Lactobacillus for 2 weeks followed by 10-day quadruplex therapy with tetracycline and furazolidone as rescue treatment. The overall eradication rate was 92% in the intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis and 91.8% in the Per-Protocol (PP) analysis, with fewer adverse reactions and a good safety profile ( Liu et al, 2020 ). The Iranian study also found that in patients in whom eradication had failed, quadruple therapy containing Lactobacillus was more effective as a rescue therapy than non-probiotic treatment ( Karbalaei and Keikha, 2021 ).…”
