“…The locoregional outcomes we demonstrated were excellent and corroborated the results reported in the recent MDACC study, as well as other published studies that used a median dose of 50 to 60 Gy with daily fractionation for IBC and demonstrated 5-year LRC rates ranging from 78% to 92% (20,21,24,29,30). Our radiation technique differed from those described in previous studies in several important ways: (1) mastectomy scar boost was not routinely advocated, and performed in only a small fraction (11%) of patients (2) skin bolus was used daily to ensure that the entire surface of the skin was included within the prescription isodose line; and (3) the CW was most often treated with electron therapy to minimize the radiation dose to critical normal structures such as heart and lung.…”

“…49 Two clinical forms of IMC have been described in dogs 49 and women. 1,52,71 Primary IMC refers to IMC occurrence in a dog without previous history of mammary nodules, whereas secondary IMC includes IMC occurrence in a dog with previous mammary tumors. Secondary IMC is further classified into two types: postsurgical secondary (IMC after surgical excision of a previous mammary tumor) and non-postsurgical secondary (a previous mammary tumor not surgically treated that leads to IMC).…”

“…PEV2 describes a breast tumor causing edema and inflammatory signs that involve less than half the breast while changes associated with PEV3 involve more than half the breast surface. The criteria for PEV2 and PEV3 have been modified further to include a time interval of a less than or equal to 4 months to allow for distinction between IBC and a neglected LABC [19]. However, the PEV classification system is not widely used outside certain institutions.…”
