“…Treatment-related mortality (TRM) has recently been reported in child ALL-treatment clinical trials, ranging from 2 % to 5 % [ 5 ]. Infection is the most prevalent cause of TRM [ 6 ], and infection-related mortality (IRM) accounts for 64–73 % of all TRM cases [ [6] , [7] , [8] , [9] , [10] ], possibly due to the predominantly immunosuppressive effect of chemotherapy regimens.
