Treatment of thrombosis in KD Patients using tissue plasminogen activator: a single center study

Abstract: Objective The most severe complication associated with giant coronary aneurysm in children with Kawasaki disease is ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) caused by thrombosis. Addition of tissue plasminogen activator, Alteplase, in the treatment regimen can be an efficient thrombolytic therapy, and therefore can have a significantly positive impact on patients’ quality of life in long term. Methods Total four male KD patients with central thromboses in cor… Show more

“…Notably, Plat has been extensively studied for its therapeutic potential in treating thrombotic disorders like ischemic stroke and myocardial infraction. [84][85][86][87][88] Therefore, further research is required to clarify the exact role of Plat in osteoblast differentiation and bone formation and its potential as a therapeutic target for osteoporosis and other bone-related disorders.…”

“…These findings underscore the complex and context‐dependent roles of Plat and PAI‐1 in bone physiology and highlight the importance of investigating their regulation and interactions in osteoblast differentiation. Notably, Plat has been extensively studied for its therapeutic potential in treating thrombotic disorders like ischemic stroke and myocardial infraction 84–88 . Therefore, further research is required to clarify the exact role of Plat in osteoblast differentiation and bone formation and its potential as a therapeutic target for osteoporosis and other bone‐related disorders.…”

“…Several antithrombotic agents, including anticoagulants, antiplatelets, and brinolytics are recommended for the treatment of thrombotic events in pediatric patients. Currently, the primary choices remain with anticoagulants and antiplatelet therapies (22). Among these, the most extensively studied agents in the context of pediatric thrombosis are unfractionated heparin, low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH), and warfarin.…”
