ÖzetAmaç: Multipl sklerozlu (MS) hastalarda gelişen üveitin klinik bulgularını ve sonuçlarını değerlendirmek. Ge reç ve Yön tem: 2005-2011 yılları arasında üveit polikliniğine başvuran multipl sklerozu ve üveiti olan sekiz hastanın kayıtları retrospektif olarak incelendi. Sonuçlar: Başvuru sırasında sekiz hastanın (Yedi kadın, bir erkek; ortalama yaş 39±7,5 yıl; ortalama izlem süresi 3,8±1,8 yıl) on üç gözünün ortalama görme keskinliği 0,7±0,2 idi. İki hastaya MS ile ilişkili ön üveit, beş hastaya intermedier üveit ve retinal vaskülit, bir hastaya retinal vaskülit tanısı konuldu. Takip boyunca tüm hastalar interferon β-1a tedavisi altındaydı. Hastaların üveit tedavileri hastalığın lokalizasyonuna göre yapıldı. Takip sonunda bir olgu dışında tüm hastaların görme keskinliği tam olarak korundu. Tar t›fl ma: Sistemik interferon β-1a uygulanan hastalarda üveit tedavi ile kontrol altına alınabilmekte, sık rekürrensler ve kalıcı görme kayıpları önlenebilmektedir. ( Re sults: The mean visual acuity of the thirteen eyes of eight patients (seven women, one man; mean age 39±7.5 years; mean follow-up 3.8±1.8 years) was 0.7±0.2 at the time of presentation. Two patients were diagnosed as anterior uveitis related with MS, five patients as intermediate uveitis and retinal vasculitis, and one patient as retinal vasculitis alone. All patients received interferon β-1a during the follow-up. The uveitis treatment was applied according to the localization of the disease. Except in one, the visual acuity was restored in all patients at the end of follow-up. Summary: High-dose IVCS are effective in hastening visual recovery in acute typical optic neuritis, but do not affect the final visual outcome. In optic neuritis patients, IVCS may delay progression to clinically definite multiple sclerosis (CDMS) at 2 years, but not at 5 or 10 years. It is reasonable to recommend high-dose IVCS for acute optic neuritis patients with significant vision loss, severe pain, and/or white matter lesions on brain MRI in whom the potential for benefit outweighs the risks.
