Treatment of Impotence Due to Perineal Venous Leakage by Ligation of Crura Penis

Abstract: Perineal venous leakage is a cause of impotence that is demonstrated easily by dynamic cavernosography. Perineal ligation of the crura penis was done in 13 patients with this type of impotence. Nine patients achieved satisfactory intercourse and 3 had sufficient erection after intracavernous self-injections of papaverine. Implantation of a penile prosthesis was required in only 1 patient. Ligation of the crura penis is a simple operation that seems to be efficient in the treatment of impotence owing to perinea… Show more

“…Specifical ly, leakage through crura can be addressed by several tech niques. These include corporal ligation with isolation of the crural edge of the corpora cavernosa as well as Gorctex pericavernous banding [21,22]. These operations require a perineal incision, and care should be taken to avoid urethral injury.…”

“…Wc personally do not believe in a long-lasting im provement of these venous surgical procedures, i.e. crural ligation [10] or spongiolysis [11], in these types of venoocclusive dysfunction. Nevertheless, the outcome of these procedures has to be reanalyzed very critically by experts in this field in several papers of this issue.…”
