Abstract: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) represents a spectrum of diseases in which excess fat deposits in the liver (steatosis, NAFL) are separate from but can progress to inflammation and fibrosis (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, NASH), fibrosis, and cirrhosis.
