The type of fixation device can influence the outcome (Barnes et al 1976, Svenningson et al 1984, Stromquist et al 1984, Rehnberg and Olerud 1989, Lindequist et al 1989), but in this study, as well as in Elmerson's study (1988), there was no difference in healing complications between the nail and the pins.…”
