In a series of over 4,000, reported by Bray (1937), the onset in 14.1 per cent was in the second decade; Unger and Wolf (1943) found 15.7 per cent; and there is general agreement that there is a marked preponderance of females over males among those who develop asthma at this time (Table 1).
