“…Service providers should be aware of the importance that persons experiencing homelessness attribute to the services that they provide, a finding emphasized by participants in previous research (C. A. Marshall et al, 2022 ). Acknowledging the trauma histories that persons with histories of homelessness have experienced and integrating this knowledge in the delivery of care is a key approach for improving the effectiveness of services (Bransford & Cole, 2019 ; Hopper et al, 2010 ). A relational approach in which services are delivered to account for the trauma and attachment histories of persons who have experienced homelessness as a way of building trusting and authentic relationships has been emphasized by the participants in this study and has been promoted by existing practice frameworks (C. Marshall et al, 2020 ).…”

“…There was always a looming awareness that the sites would close, and while considerable advocacy efforts by the Coalition to maintain them, residents were all too aware that it was only a matter of time before they would be permanently closed. The impact of residents’ awareness of this reality cannot be overstated; significant trauma, fear, and anxiety was (and is) produced by continually creating uncertain futures for PDH (see Bransford & Cole, 2019 ; Hopper et al, 2010 ). Although there were some positive aspects to the WISH program identified by some residents, the program became yet another THP, and one with a particularly short timeline.…”

“…Applied scientific research should be conducted about the use of a gender perspective in social services, making it possible to transfer academic knowledge to professional practice (see Andermann et al, 2021). Also, research budgets should have specific allocations for studying homelessness in Spain with the aim of understanding the effect of trauma on social exclusion and breaking the cycle of marginalization (see also Bransford & Cole, 2019).…”
