Regardless, the results related to the differences according to IPV perpetration observed in this study support the data obtained in previous studies that address the relationship between IPV and addictive behaviours (Clements and Schumacher, 2010;Easton et al, 2000;Fernández-Montalvo et al, 2011;Moore et al, 2008;Stuart et al, 2009). “…High rates of intimate partner violence (IPV) have been found in drug-addicted patients Clements and Schumacher, 2010;Fernández-Montalvo et al, 2011;Moore et al, 2008;Stuart et al, 2009). According to different studies, between 40% and 60% of people in treatment for drug addiction have histories of episodes of IPV within the year prior to the initiation of treatment (Easton et al, 2000;O'Farrell and Murphy, 1995).…”

“…Despite the existence of different Spanish studies evaluating the effectiveness of treatments and the degree of influence exerted on the therapy by some of the variables related to characteristics of the aggressors (e.g., Echeburúa & Fernández-Montalvo, 2009;Echeburúa, Sarasua, Zubizarreta, Amor, & Corral, 2010;Echeburúa, Sarasua, Zubizarreta, & Corral, 2009;Fernández-Montalvo, López-Goñi, & Arteaga, 2011;Loinaz, Torrubia, Echeburúa, Navarro, & Fernández, 2009), none of these works treat the characteristics of the therapeutic alliance or the way they are rated by the convicted offenders as relevant aspects of the intervention. Pérez and Martínez (2010), however, evaluated the satisfaction of a group of men who completed a community program for convicted perpetrators of intimate partner violence by means of a telephone survey.…”
