Background/ObjectivesHigh fat diet (HFD) is a major contributor to the development of obesity and cardiovascular diseases due to the induction of cardiac structural and hemodynamic abnormalities. We used a model of diabetic cardiomyopathy in C57Bl/6 mice fed with a HFD to investigate the effects of granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF), a cytokine known for its beneficial effects in the heart, on cardiac anatomical and functional abnormalities associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes.MethodsGroups of C57Bl/6 mice were fed with standard diet (n = 8) or HFD (n = 16). After 36 weeks, HFD animals were divided into a group treated with G-CSF + standard diet (n = 8) and a vehicle control group + standard diet (n = 8). Cardiac structure and function were assessed by electrocardiography, echocardiography and treadmill tests, in addition to the evaluation of body weight, fasting glicemia, insulin and glucose tolerance at different time points. Histological analyses were performed in the heart tissue.ResultsHFD consumption induced metabolic alterations characteristic of type 2 diabetes and obesity, as well as cardiac fibrosis and reduced exercise capacity. Upon returning to a standard diet, obese mice body weight returned to non-obese levels. G-CSF administration accelerated the reduction in of body weight in obese mice. Additionally, G-CSF treatment reduced insulin levels, diminished heart fibrosis, increased exercise capacity and reversed cardiac alterations, including bradycardia, elevated QRS amplitude, augmented P amplitude, increased septal wall thickness, left ventricular posterior thickening and cardiac output reduction.ConclusionOur results indicate that G-CSF administration caused beneficial effects on obesity-associated cardiac impairment.

A depressão é uma doença que compromete o sistema mental e físico do indivíduo, deixando-o triste, perdendo o interesse nas atividades diárias, causa insônia e diversos fatores que devem ser observados pelo profissional durante o diagnóstico. Para seu tratamento utiliza-se diversos antidepressivos, entre eles estão os antidepressivos tricíclicos, que apesar de suas inúmeras reações indesejadas são muito eficazes. Entre eles está o cloridrato de bupropiona que é um fármaco de primeira geração utilizado no tratamento de depressão, porém esses fármacos são contraindicados em pacientes hipertensos, cardiopatas, alérgicos, gravidas e lactantes. Apesar de seu mecanismo de ação não totalmente compreendido, verificamos que o fármaco atua durante a recaptação de serotonina e inibe as aminoxidase, assim como os antidepressivos tricíclicos, a bupropiona possui uma estrutura molecular simples composta por três anéis benzodiazepínicos, possuindo de sete a oito carbonos no anel central, uma cadeia lateral e um agrupamento amina termina. O objetivo deste trabalho foi demostrar o mecanismo de ação dos antidepressivos tricíclicos, as reações adversas que pode acarretar durante o uso, relatar sobre o cloridrato de bupropiona e a depressão que é uma doença comum em grande parte da população, porém dificilmente diagnosticada. Para a realização da presente revisão bibliográfica realizou-se pesquisas em bancos de dados virtuais como Google acadêmico e Sciello. Conclui-se que os antidepressivos tricíclicos são muito eficazes durante o tratamento de depressão, devido sua forte ação em dores neuropáticas, porém são pouco indicados devido possuírem fortes reações adversas.

The increase of obesity prevalence is being considered a problem of public health. The aim of this study was to identify the prevalence of dental caries, periodontal diseases and dental wear in bariatric patients, relating to the conditions of oral health and saliva flow. The sample was composed for patients who were treatment in the clinic of Bariatric Surgery of the Clinical Hospital of Ribeirão Preto (FMRP-USP). It participated of the research a total of 102 patients who had been separated in two groups: Experimental group (G1)-bariatric patient (n= 52) and Group Control (G2)-obese patient indicated for bariatric surgery (n= 50). The participants had been examined in relation of saliva flow, dental caries, using index DMFT, periodontal diseases, using index CPI and tooth wear, using index TWI. The statistics analysis used the test Student of "t", Mann Whitney, Spearman correlation, Chi-square and multivariate analysis to verify association among dental wear, periodontal diseases, saliva flow and bariatric surgery. The mean of the period of the bariatric surgery and oral examination was of 16.9±20.7 months. The mean of the saliva flow had presented hyposalivation in the majority of the patients of both the groups. The mean of the saliva flow was 0.65±0.47 ml/min. The mean of the saliva
