“…A two-piece narrowing genioplasty, sometimes combined with chin lengthening or reduction 2,4 , is a commonly used procedure to recontour the lower third of the face 10 . It is more difficult to develop a surgical plan for a two-piece narrowing genioplasty than a monoblock genioplasty due to fact that the shape and the position of each chin segment will directly affect the surgical outcome.…”

“…7,8 Other modifications made from time to time include sagittal split genioplasty, 9 M shaped genioplasty, 10 horizontal flip genioplasty, 11 oblique mandibular chin-body osteotomy for correction of broad chin, 12 and transverse reduction genioplasty to reduce width of chin. 13,14 Triaca et al, 2 introduced chin shield osteotomy as a new genioplasty technique to avoid a deep mentolabial fold and increase labial competence. It has also been reported that genioplasty performed during puberty promotes spontaneous lip closure 15e17 as was also seen in both our groups where lip competency was achieved after genioplasty.…”

“…The so-called V-line operation, which is a combination of a mandible angle reduction procedure and a narrowing genioplasty, is a typical and commonly used method of contouring the lower face. [2][3][4][5][6][7] When the patient has a short lower face and requires a concomitant lengthening procedure of the chin, the use of autogenous bone grafts or alloplastic materials is presently the most popular approach to correct the problem. 2,3,5,8 To avoid the inherent disadvantages of these previous surgical methods when lengthening the chin, we devised a novel, simple, and reliable method that can effectively lengthen the chin and result in a natural and balanced appearance of the lower face.…”
