Transverse fatigue behavior analysis of symmetric and asymmetric glass fiber‐reinforced laminates

Abstract: This study examined the effect of interchanging the position of (0°/90°) and (±45°) angle ply around the midplane of an eight‐layer symmetric [(0°/90°)/(±45°)2/(0°/90°)]s and asymmetric woven glass fiber reinforced composite laminate having [(0°/90°)/(±45°)2/(0°/90°)//(±45°)/(0°/90°)2/(±45°)] and (±45°)/(0°/90°)2/(±45°)//(0°/90°)/(±45°)2/(0°/90°) stacking sequence by means of flexure and fatigue test. The flexural and fatigue behavior of glass fiber–reinforced polymer (GFRP) laminates was analyzed as well. The… Show more

“…A comparison of the results obtained led to the conclusion that the unidirectional laminate has the highest fatigue strength. Sharma et al [128] examined the impact of rearranging the position of (0 • /90 • ) and (±45 • ) plies within an eight-layer symmetric and asymmetric woven glass fiber-reinforced composite laminate. The symmetric laminate had a stacking sequence of A [(0 • /90 • )/(±45 • ) 2 /(0 • /90 • )] s , while the asymmetric laminate had a stacking sequence of B [(0…”

“…This configuration effectively distributes the load across a greater volume of the composite material, reducing stress concentrations and enhancing fatigue resistance [129][130][131]. [128] examin the impact of rearranging the position of (0°/90°) and (±45°) plies within an eight-la symmetric and asymmetric woven glass fiber-reinforced composite laminate.
