Transvaginal Follicle Aspiration in Thai Swamp Buffalo Heifers Using Different Vacuum Pressures after FSH Pretreatment (Bubalus bubalis)

Abstract: ABSTRACT. The objective of the experiment was to study oocyte recovery by transvaginal, ultrasound-guided, follicle aspiration, from Thai swamp buffalo using different vacuum pressures. Six adult buffalo heifers, aged 2.5-3.0 yrs were treated with a total dose of 280 mg FSH, given twice a day in a divided doses over a three day period (60/60 mg, 50/50 mg, 30/30 mg) at d7 after progesterone implant. Three vacuum pressures were used; 100 (n=12), 80 (n=12) and 60 mmHg (n=12) and all of the pressures were performe… Show more

“…This contradicts our finding in previous studies, in pre‐puberal buffaloes treated with FSH and heifers treated with PMSG, where only low numbers of good quality oocytes were recovered (Promdireg et al. 2000; Techakumphu et al. 2004a,b).…”

“…In agreement with previous studies in heifers and pre‐pubertal buffalo calves (Promdireg et al. 2000; Techakumphu et al. 2000a,b, 2004a,b; ), the administration of FSH before OPU can improve the yield of oocytes.…”

“…Em fêmeas bubalinas (Swamp buffaloes) também foi relatada a influência da utilização de diferentes pressões de vácuo (60, 80 e 100 mmHg) em programas de aspiração folicular (THECHAKUMPHU et al, 2004). Neste estudo os autores utilizaram novilhas superestimuladas e, para a aspiração folicular, agulha longa (34 (HASHIMOTO et al, 1999).…”
