Transputers for solving any system of linear equations

Abstract: Previous papers by the same authors have considered methods for solving a 3 x 3 system and a partitioned system of 3n x 3n linear equations which are suitable for an environment of nine transputers. This paper covers the case of a general n x n system of linear equations. The new algorithm is fully described in an Occam-like language. The number of flops in the parallel and the sequential media are compared. A numerical example for solving a 4 x 4 system is given.
