Transport properties of HgBaCaCuO(1223) polycrystalline superconductors

Abstract: We report on the temperature (20-300 K) dependence of the resistivity, thermopower and thermal conductivity measurements of HgBaCaCuO(1223) polycrystalline superconductors with nominal composition . We present some discussion of the precision and the originality of the measurement methods which are especially used to measure the electrical resistivity and simultaneously the thermopower and the thermal conductivity as a function of temperature. The superconductivity fluctuation contributions to the transport pr… Show more

“…In zero external magnetic field the superconducting transition starts below 94 K and the transition interval width is about 1.5 K. When comparing with the magnetic field textured Dy123, the superconducting transition is enhanced by 4 K. Moreover the transition width interval is twice reduced. The onset temperature is almost unaffected by the magnetic field which remarkably broadens the transition interval up to 30 K at magnetic field of 6 T. Similar broadening of the transition interval was previously reported for Dy123+10 % of BaZrO 3 [20] but only for magnetic fields below 1 T.…”

“…After a small minimum, a sharp rise with a maximum and then a sharp drop were obtained just below T c . Such a feature has been observed in most substituted and/or unsubstituted HT c systems (Chanda and Dey, 1994;Bougrine et al, 1998Bougrine et al, , 2000Aksan et al, 1999;Yakıncı, 1997). The origin of this small minimum near T c is not clear but may be attributed to superconducting fluctuation contribution (Castellazi et al, 1997;Peacor et al, 1991;Yu et al, 1992).…”

“…The temperature dependence of κ was found to be linear down to ∼95 K and a sharp rise and a broad maximum were obtained just below T c . This is the basic nature of the HT c materials and such a feature has been observed almost all of the substituted/doped and/or unsubstituted HT c systems [31,73,74] and has not been clarified fully. It can be either an electronic contribution or phononic contribution due to the decrease in phonon-carrier scattering and an increase in the phonon free path or both of them could be effective.…”
