Transport properties and Langevin dynamics of heavy quarks and quarkonia in the Quark Gluon Plasma

Abstract: Quark Gluon Plasma transport coefficients for heavy quarks and QQ pairs are computed through an extension of the results obtained for a hot QED plasma by describing the heavy-quark propagation in the eikonal approximation and by weighting the gauge field configurations with the Hard Thermal Loop effective action. It is shown that such a model allows to correctly reproduce, at leading logarithmic accuracy, the results obtained by other independent approaches. The results are then inserted into a relativistic La… Show more

“…Assuming that, within a quite short time interval τ 0 , a thermalized medium is formed, which will live for about 2-3 fm/c in the deconfined phase, one can follow the evolution of charm and beauty quarks in such a hydrodynamic background by solving the relativistic Langevin equation developed in refs. [37][38][39]. Finally, heavy quarks are hadronized according to a mechanism [40] which involves their recombination with light partons from the medium to form colour-singlet objects (strings), eventually fragmented to produce the final hadrons.…”
