Transparent heater based on Al,Ga co-doped ZnO thin films

Abstract: Al, Ga co-doped ZnO thin films were deposited on to glass substrates by aerosol assisted chemical transport (AACT) and were studied for application as transparent thin film heaters. The film thickness was around 400 nm after 60 min of AACT deposition; this gave a sheet resistance of 142.5 Ω/sq, which corresponded to a resistivity of 5.7 x 10-3 Ω.cm. The thin films exhibited a maximum transmittance of 90% in the visible region. A mean temperature of 132.3 o C was reached after applying a voltage of 18 V for 10 … Show more

“…Finally, our TCE is explored as a exible transparent lm heater, which achieves comparable or even superior heating performances as compared with previously-reported heaters. 19,24,[55][56][57][58][59] Therefore, our patterned sub-10 nm Ag lms are highly promising for many applications, including emerging exible and thin-lm optoelectronics (where shorting can be avoided).…”

“…Despite TCOs being the oldest studied TCMs, there are surprisingly few reports in the literature dealing with the application of TCOs as THs. The studies reported so far involve ZnO‐based materials, Ga‐doped ZnO (GZO), [ 126–128 ] and AZO, [ 60,84,127,129 ] FTO, [ 84 ] and ITO. [ 130–133 ] Indeed, TCOs have been mainly investigated in the framework of industrial research and development, which is generally not associated with scientific publications.…”

“…Jayathilake et al deposited ZnO co‐doped with Al and Ga (AGZO) by aerosol‐assisted chemical transport, which showed a lower conductivity than AZO or GZO films. [ 127 ] The films were prepared by dispersing previously prepared AGZO powders (by microwave synthesis) in a methanol solution containing formic acid and cellulose. Then aerosol generated from this suspension was carried by N 2 gas to a glass substrate at 400 °C.…”

“…Therefore, electrodes with biocompatible and exible characteristics are necessary for the creation of wearable TFHs. [42][43][44][45][46] In this work, we investigated the electrical, optical, and mechanical properties of an Ag NW-embedded SF substrate for use as an electrode for wearable and biocompatible TFHs. The mechanical exibility of the Ag NW-embedded SF substrate was investigated in detail using lab-designed inner/outer bending, folding, and rolling test equipment.…”
