Abstract: Bifidobacterium infantis are the primary colonizers of the infant gut, yet scientific research addressing the transmission of the genus Bifidobacterium to infants remains incomplete. This review examines microbial reservoirs of infant-type Bifidobacterium that potentially contribute to infant gut colonization.
