Abstract: Zika is a systemic inflammatory disease caused by infection with Zika virus (ZIKV). ZIKV infection in adults is associated with encephalitis marked by elevated expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, as well as increased brain infiltration of immune cells.
