AimThis study aimed to examine the factors that influence the level of flourishing among nursing students.DesignCross‐sectional study.MethodsA multistage sampling technique was used to recruit 328 undergraduate nursing students from a nursing college. Data were collected from February to June 2023 using the Global Flourishing Study (GFS) questionnaire, which assesses six domains of flourishing and their determinants. To ensure reliability and validity, a pilot study was conducted and a thorough validation process was employed.ResultsThe Flourishing Index ranged from 24.0 to 100.0, with an average score of 74.2 (SD = 14.8). Well‐being, disposition and behaviour, as well as external factors, correlated strongly positively with the Flourishing Index (r = 0.741, r = 0.565, r = 0.596, all p < 0.001). The Flourishing level was significantly negatively correlated with religion (r = −0.381, p < 0.001). Married participants had a significantly negative association with flourishing (p = 0.009). Disposition and behaviour were significantly and positively associated with flourishing (p = 0.017). The regression model had goodness of fit (R2 = 0.628) and was significant overall (F = 108.703, p = 0.001). The Flourishing model was established based on well‐being, external factors, religion, disposition and behaviour, and marital status.ConclusionPositive correlations between flourishing and well‐being, disposition and external factors suggest areas of improvement. Conversely, the negative association with religion emphasizes the necessity of culturally sensitive approaches. Future studies with larger and more diverse samples, as well as additional variables, are crucial to obtain a deeper understanding of the factors that influence flourishing among nursing students in Saudi Arabia.

Background Many males encounter the condition of erectile dysfunction (ED), particularly individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). Stem cell therapy is a burgeoning treatment modality being explored for individuals with erectile dysfunction in the context of type 2 DM. Nevertheless, the available body of clinical evidence supporting its efficacy remains limited. This study aims to assess the effectiveness and safety of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy in managing erectile dysfunction (ED) resulting from type 2 DM. Methods A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Indonesia from October 2020 to January 2023. A total of 26 eligible patients were randomly assigned to two groups: one receiving intracavernosal injections of MSC and the other receiving a placebo. Follow-up assessments were conducted at baseline, month one, and month three. The primary outcomes were measured using the IIEF-5 questionnaire and dorsal artery peak systolic velocity (PSV). Metabolic markers were used as secondary outcomes. Results The IIEF-5 scores for both groups showed a significant increase (p < 0.001) from baseline to month three. There was no significant difference observed between the MSC and placebo groups. Moreover, no significant differences were observed in the PSV of the dorsal artery between the two groups (p>0.05). There were no significant differences in metabolic markers between the groups. The incidence of mild post-injection pain was reported by only 11% of individuals, indicating a low occurrence of adverse events. Conclusions Intracavernous administration of MSC did not demonstrate superior efficacy compared to a placebo in improving metabolic or erectile function in diabetic males with erectile dysfunction. Additional research utilizing larger sample sizes and more extended follow-up periods is necessary.

International Index of Erectile function (IIEF) among Filipino Men: A Reliability and Validity using Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analyses

The International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) has emerged as a pivotal instrument for the evaluation of erectile dysfunction (ED) in both clinical and research settings. However, its psychometric properties have not been extensively examined among diverse populations. This study aimed to investigate the validity and reliability of the IIEF among a sample of Filipino men, given the distinct socio-cultural perspectives associated with sexuality and ED in this demographic. A total of N = 1,463 participants, aged 18 years and older, from various regions of the Philippines were enrolled. Initial evaluations confirmed the internal consistency of the IIEF, with Cronbach's alpha values consistently ranging from .78 to .92 for each of the five domains. For construct validity, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was first utilized, revealing three-factor structure (sexual intercourse, stimulation, and satisfaction [IIEF-SSS]). Cronbach’s alpha for each IIEF-SSS subscale ranges from .76 to .96. Subsequent confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) provided robust support for this structure, with fit indices suggesting a strong model fit (X2 = 252.95, df = 80, X2/ df ratio = 3.16, RMSEA = 0.059, NFI = .97, CFI = .98, IFI= .98, GFI = .95, AGFI = .92). The results of this comprehensive analysis underscore the IIEF-SSS’ robustness as a psychometric tool, confirming its reliability and validity within a Filipino context. Healthcare providers and researchers in the Philippines can, therefore, employ the IIEF-SSS with confidence when assessing ED. Additionally, the findings illuminate the instrument's cross-cultural adaptability, offering a precedent for its potential application in other diverse settings. Future studies could further delve into the cultural nuances impacting ED and its perception among Filipino men.
