Translation as metaphor in Meridel Le Sueur

Abstract: This paper was inspired by a line of Julia Kristeva, revealing the virginity attributed to Mary an effect of translation. According to Kristeva, the scribe chose “the Greek [word] parthenos’’ to translate “the Sernitic word denoting the social-legal status of an unmarried girl” ( 1986, 101). My paper deals with the theory and practical effects of translaltion.
