Transition probabilities of forbidden lines within the electronic configurations 6p 2 and 6p 7p of Pb I

Abstract: The least squares fit of radial parameters involving radial functions of the 6p 2-and 6p 7p-configurations of Pb I has been carried out. The wave functions of the 9 lowest even levels of Pb I have been found in the basis of LSJ-states belonging to two configurations. On the base of the wave functions the transition probabilities for magnetic dipole (M1) and electric quadrupole (E2) radiation have been calculated. Comparison of experimental data and theoretical results is discussed.

“…In tables 4 and 5 our result was compared with theory and experimental results of other authors. Our result is in agreement with earlier Zeeman effect studies performed with c From calculations for two-configuration base (6p 2 + 6p7p) and for radial integrals s q (6p, 6p) = 13 ea 2 0 and s q (6p, 7p) = 5 ea 2 0 , [30]. g [27].…”

“…2 shows, these transitions violate the electrodipole forbiddenness, a parity selection rule. Radiative lifetimes of 6p 2 (3/2,3/2)0,2 levelsthe upper levels for these transitionshave been determined by us using data from [8]. The respective values are τ = 9.73 ms for the level with J = 0 and τ = 38.2 ms for the level with J = 2.…”

“…An analysis of the energy-levels in the 6p 2 and 6p 7p configurations performed by Gil and Heldt [18] including configuration interaction effects, can serve as an estimate of the configuration mixing. In their article they obtained two sets of eigenvectors, denoted "Version I" and "Version II" (Table 4).…”
