Transient fluid flow in the Binbei district of the Songliao Basin, China: Evidence from apatite fission track thermochronology

Abstract: economic hydrocarbon reservoir has been found in the northeastern Binbei district. Its thermal history, the late Cretaceous (72±5 Ma) and the early Eocene (41±3 Ma) period, indicating their total annealing > 89.3 Ma) and the Nenjiang Formation (depositional age > 73.0 Ma) are not annealed or partially R o R o thermometer because the 4-10 5 yrs.) for an enhancement of the R o (minimum 10 6-10 7

“…The mean track lengths (MTL) of samples vary from 11.08 μm (Pu434) to 12.91 μm (YC2) with corresponding standard deviation of 1.47 to 2.45 μm (Table and Figures and ). This result is in agreement with the results of MTL (11.2 ± 2.1 to 12.5 ± 2.7 μm) from previous AFTA studies in the Songliao Basin (Xiang et al, , ). Specifically, the values of MTL in the central downwarp (from 11.08 μm to 11.84 μm) are all less than 12 μm, shorter than those of the peripheral uplift zone (from 11.69 μm to 12.91 μm).…”

“…60–55 Ma) and Songliao (ca. 65 Ma) basins experienced exhumation in a compressional setting with crustal shortening including pronounced tectonic inversion and depositional hiatuses in the basins (Xiang et al., 2013; Song et al., 2018a, 2018b; Wang et al., 2020; Y. P. Zhang et al., 2022). Meanwhile an extensional setting dominated on the continental margin (Figure 2f) in the Sikhote‐Alin belt (Liu et al., 2020) and Liaodongwan basin (Figure 2e; Cheng et al., 2015; Yang et al., 2021; Zhou et al., 2022) along with the opening of the Bohai Sea (Figure 2e; Zhu & Xu, 2019).…”

“…After eruption in the Early Cretaceous, the Yingcheng Formation volcanic rocks in the Songliao Basin were formed after experiencing dissolution, cooling, crystallization and some other consolidation (approximately 156-125 Ma) (Sun et al 2008;Meng et al 2010;Shao et al 2013;Xiang et al 2013;Zhang et al 2013a, b). Then the formation was covered directly by overlying sedimentary strata after short periods of hydrothermal fluids and weathering and leaching between eruption intermissions.…”
