Transient Dynamics of Stimulated Raman Scattering in Gas‐Filled Hollow‐Core Photonic Crystal Fibers

Abstract: A theoretical and numerical investigation of transient dynamics of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) inside gas-filled hollow-core photonic crystal fibers (HCPCFs) is reported here. A clear link between the transient dynamics and the coherent memory of the SRS interaction is demonstrated. In addition, the role of pulse width, pump power, fiber length, and gaseous medium in the transient dynamics of SRS in HCPCFs is discussed. It is shown that the coherent memory can serve as a convenient parameter to control t… Show more

“…TIR can be the guiding mechanism in HCPCFs if one fill the core of the fiber with a high index material such as a high index liquid [36]. However, total internal reflection is not possible if we fill the core with a low index material such as a gas [39]. Interestingly, the light guidance in hollow-core PCFs filled with low-index material can still be possible via a photonic bandgap mechanism over a narrow bandwidth [39].…”

“…Because the light is trapped in HC-PCF by a photonic bandgap in the cladding that is made of spaced air holes instead of internal reflection, it is possible to guide light in a gas-filled core [2]. In addition, its long interaction length can realize resonance and near-resonance light-light and light-matter interactions [3]. Due to its excellent characteristics in gas sensing, it has been extensively studied for gas detection.…”
