The significance of language as a science in the educational sector has continued to play a critical role in terms of teaching and learning. However, due to inequalities exposed severely by the Covid-19 pandemic, the teaching of English as the second language acquisition to foreign speakers; is adversely affected. Therefore, the use of transformative methodology as the teaching strategy is explored to determine the most suitable methodology of teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic. The study utilizes Participatory Action Research as the approach to explore the efficacy of transformative methodology; this approach is embedded in the paradigmatic principles of constructivism as the lens of qualitative methodology. Besides, the data is analysed using Critical Discourse Analysis post the generation of it using observations and semi-structured interviews (free attitudinal interviews). The paper demonstrates the prospects of using transformative methodology as the appropriate use of pedagogical strategy for English as the second language acquisition, it also suggests efficient but costly measures required to be implemented by the universities for the use of the transformative methodology.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has resulted the change in every sector of life. Education institutions transform their learning methods from face-to-face learning to online-based distance learning to keep the learning process running during the pandemic era. The purpose of this study is to obtain the description and analysis results regarding learning profile and evaluation system used in the lecture at Biology Education Study Program during the Pandemic. This survey study was conducted in August 2020 until August 2021, even semester of 2019/2020, odd semester of 2019/2020, even semester of 2020/2021, and odd semester of 2021/2022. The population of this study was the students of Biology Education of UMM and the students of private universities in Malang City. Purposive sampling was employed for sample selection. The instruments used were survey and questionnaire forms. The data was analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results of the study show that online learning is apparently not optimal in Biology Education and other private universities in Malang due to limitations in discussions, assignments, and assessments. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct training session, planning, and implementation of innovative online learning to optimize learning process. To make the learning process more accurate and effective, evaluations are also needed.

All participants in educational relations are worried about the problem how to improve the quality of education, with everyone representing it through the prism of their value system. In this connection there is a need to structure these representations. It is necessary to begin with bringing into a unified system the representations of education direct customers – students. The aim of our article is to analyze how pedagogical university students perceive the quality of their education. On the basis of the survey involving 117 respondents from Elabuga Institute of Kazan Federal University (Elabuga, Republic of Tatarstan) and the Northeast Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov (Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)) we analyzed such criteria as quality of teaching, quality of learning, formation of universal competencies, personal qualities necessary for modern teachers and the creation of appropriate conditions by a university (digitalization of the educational environment, academic mobility) for students’ self-development. The t-Student criterion was used to determine the differences between the respondents’ competencies, knowledge, abilities, skills and qualities that they had possessed before entering the university and those that were formed during the university study. The obtained data indicate a high assessment of the quality of education by the students. The results also showed the educational process strong and weak points that students of the two federal universities face. Thus, focusing on one of the customers’ (students’) views will allow teachers to manage the educational process effectively and improve its quality.
