Understanding the mechanisms by which the combination of green marketing components fosters local sustainable development is crucial for global regions in achieving the United Nations’ sustainable development goals. Utilizing panel data from China’s provinces from 2011 to 2022, this study employs the DEA model to assess both the static and dynamic efficiencies of sustainable development across China’s 31 provinces. Subsequently, drawing on the 6P theory of marketing element combination, this study selects human input, capital input, energy input, technological output, economic output, and ecological output as causal variables, with the local sustainable development index serving as the outcome variable. By integrating the fsQCA method, the study identifies four distinct configurations: a “single input–multiple output” model, a “multiple input–single output” model, an “input–output” linkage model, and an “input-driven” model. This conclusion can enhance the comprehension of the dynamics through which various combinations of green marketing components contribute to local sustainable development from a regional macroeconomic perspective, offering a theoretical foundation for achieving sustainable development globally.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serve as a pivotal framework globally, addressing environmental concerns. The 2023 Agenda emphasizes the interconnectedness of environmental issues with socio-economic development, recognizing their fundamental role in human prosperity. This research critically evaluates the mid-term progress of EU Member States in achieving the 2030 Agenda’s environmental targets. Using Eurostat data for SDGs 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, we’ve analyzed trends via the AAA (Holt–Winters) exponential smoothing algorithm. Results highlight progress from 2015–2022 but signal concerns for 2030 targets in several Member States. These findings urge local, national, and EU stakeholders to intensify efforts toward environmental sustainability goals. Corrections are imperative, given the predicted negative trends, emphasizing the need for immediate action to rectify trajectories before it is too late.

Purpose – The goal of the research was to test a general assumption about culture contribution to sustainable development via the relationship between culture-related indices and the achievement of specific sustainable development goals. Research methodology – Linear regression analysis along with robustness testing was used to test research hypotheses. The data set is represented by 19 explanatory variables and 2 dependent variables, which are proxies for sustainable developments goals Decent Work and Economic Growth and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure – Innovation index and Global competitiveness index. The data were collected from 27 European countries for the period 2011–2020. Findings – Statistical analysis revealed relationship between sustainable development indices and culture development of European countries. Decent Work and Economic Growth demonstrated more significant relationship to cultural development than the Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure Development. Research limitations – The findings are limited by the fact that some variables were missing. Practical implications – The outcomes of the research allow to define the structure of relationship between sustainable development goals and cultural development indicators. Originality/Value – The research results have indicated that the achievement of sustainable development goals Decent Work and Economic Growth and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure Development are affected by the level of cultural development.
