Dutch policy strives to increase the amount of agroforestry. This paper aims to research the forces and obstacles for this growth, in particular the role of various drivers of change. Therefore we conducted a case study in Lingezegen Park (near Arnhem, The Netherlands), using the transition model of Van der Meulen et al. as a basis. This model describes the connection between the transition of the social and physical realms. Important drivers of change influencing the social and physical realms in Lingezegen Park are the establishment of the park itself, but also the relations and roles of the various stakeholders and the presence of a change agent. The case of Lingezegen Park clearly shows that the transformation of the social realm intertwines with developments in the physical realm. The development of the park, both a change in the physical as well as the social realm, made way for new initiatives in sustainable farming systems such as agroforestry.

O processo de urbanização acarreta degradação das águas urbanas, pelo aumento da poluição difusa carreada para os córregos. Técnicas de infraestrutura verde têm sido utilizadas como uma alternativa de cidades para o controle da poluição dos rios e adaptação as mudanças climáticas. O Jardim de Chuva se destaca por reduzir do escoamento superficial, e atuar filtrando a poluição difusa. Apesar de utilizadas há mais de 30 anos nos EUA, no Brasil ainda é pouco conhecida. O presente trabalho tem o objetivo de apresentaras pesquisas recentes sobre jardins de chuva, e estimular a disseminação dessa prática no Brasil. Para isso, foi realizada uma revisão sistemática sobre o tema. A pesquisa resultou em 69 artigos, de 11 diferentes paísesnos temas: (1) Custos de instalação e operação; (2) Capacidade de retenção de água; (3) Controle de poluição; (4) Aspectos construtivos e operacionais e (5) Fatores socioambientais. As publicações mais atuais se preocupam mais com os custos da manutenção das estruturas, além de métodos de avaliação sobre a eficiência dos mesmos. Existe no Brasil a necessidade de maior quantidade de estudos sobre o tema, de forma a aprimorar o conhecimento e aumentar a divulgação da técnica.

Cities are critical research subjects in carbon neutrality, considering they produce more than 70% of greenhouse gas emissions and their crucial role in taking climate actions. The pathway towards a greener society requires consensus, intelligence, and actions among global cities as a network of carbon neutral cities (CNC). Considering cities as complex system-of-systems, synergy among various sub-systems can create co-benefits through the progress towards carbon neutrality. Large volume, velocity, and variety of urban data provide new opportunities for quantifying, analyzing, and visualizing environmental–social–technical dynamics in urban systems. Rich data resources, advanced analytics, and climate actions collectively enable urban intelligence by leveraging data from heterogeneous sources with different spatial granularity and temporal frequency. Such intelligence can promote synergy across sub-systems and domains to support more responsive, precise, proactive planning, policy, and managerial actions. With a discussion on future innovation in urban intelligence for CNC, this paper presents conclusions on how urban intelligence can promote a smarter and greener society.
