Abstract:We have developed a convenient route to transform biomass power plant ashes (BPPA) into porous sponge-like fertilizer composites. The absence of water prevents the chemical reaction and carbon dioxide formation when concentrated sulfuric acid is mixed with BPPA and CaCO3. Adding water, however, initiates the protonation reaction of carbonate ion content and starts CO2 evolution.
