Abstract: These data indicate that TfR1 expression in serum exosomes may provide a marker for regeneration in anaemic horses.

“…Our data are in a good agreement with the previously published results of the analysis of exosomes isolated using successive centrifugation according to the adopted schemes from various biological fluids ; exosome preparations obtained in such way, were used in most of the published studies . Analysis of more than 200 vesicle preparations obtained from various biological fluids in addition to exosomes revealed in all preparations contaminating structures of low electron density that do not have membrane envelope and, therefore respectively, are not exosomes (“nonvesicles”) .…”

“…The most efficient procedures include centrifugation with following ultracentrifugation, ultracentrifugation with density gradients etc. . Protocols for purification of exosomes by ultracentrifugation in a 30% sucrose/deuterium oxide cushion and after incubation in the ice at acidic pH has been published .…”

“…To date, no data concerning horse milk exosomes have been published. At the same time, the only article devoted to horse exosomes evaluates these vesicles as markers of erythrocyte regeneration, as horses do not release reticulocytes into the peripheral blood [23] . The authors have proposed that transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1) expressed in exosomes of serum can provide a regeneration of new marker for anemic horses.…”

“…Currently, extensive studies have been undertaken to elucidate the role of specific miRNAs in diverse disease processes and their potential use as biomarkers (53-58). Recently, equine miRNAs in normal tissues have been investigated (59,60), and exosomes and exosomal miRNAs derived from serum and ovarian follicular fluid in mares have been characterized (61)(62)(63). Even though SEs have been described for the horse and their role during sperm capacitation has been studied (46,64), their RNA cargo and function remain to be characterized.…”
