Abstract. ADP-ribosylation factor 1 (ARF1) is a small G protein that regulates many cellular processes such as reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton and is highly expressed in various tumor cells and tissues. However, the role of ARF1 in ovarian cancer progression remains unknown. In the present study, we explored the expression patterns of ARF1 in clinical ovarian cancer samples and adjacent noncancerous tissues. The results revealed that ARF1 overexpressed in EOC tissues and cell lines, compared with the adjacent non-tumorous tissues and normal ovarian cells. In addition, the immunoreactivity of ARF1 was positively correlated with EOC grade and Ki-67 expression. Knockdown of ARF1 expression notably inhibited cell proliferation and migration rate of EOC cells by the auxiliary of PI3K. Taken together, our findings provide new insights into the functional role of ARF1 on EOC cell growth and migration and it may serve as a diagnostic and therapeutic target.

Two novel Gram-positive-staining, acidophilic strains were isolated from soil samples. Both show typical features of filamentous actinomycetes. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, the strains are members of the family Micromonosporaceae. The two strains contain hydroxydiaminopimelic acid, glycine, alanine and glutamic acid in the peptidoglycan. Fatty acid profiles clearly differentiate the two strains: cyclohexyl C(17 : 0), i-C(16 : 0) and ai-C(17 : 0) are predominant in Delta1(T), while the major components for Delta3(T) are ai-C(17 : 0) and i-C(16 : 0). The two strains also differ in their major menaquinones, MK-9(H(8), H(4), H(6)) for Delta1(T) and MK-9(H(8), H(6)) for Delta3(T), and in phospholipid patterns; Delta1(T) displays phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylethanolamine, methyl phosphatidylethanolamine and an unknown aminophospholipid, while Delta3(T) also contains minor amounts of several unknown phospholipids in addition to these phospholipids. The whole-cell sugars of both strains are galactose, arabinose and xylose. The G+C content of the DNA is 72.7 mol% for Delta1(T) and 71.9 mol% for Delta3(T). On the basis of chemotaxonomic, physiological and phylogenetic data, we propose Rugosimonospora gen. nov. to accommodate the two strains, with the description of Rugosimonospora acidiphila gen. nov., sp. nov. (the type species; type strain Delta1(T) =DSM 45227(T) =NBRC 104874(T)) and Rugosimonospora africana sp. nov. (type strain Delta3(T) =DSM 45228(T) =NBRC 104875(T))

Hamadaea flava sp. nov., isolated from a soil sample and emended description of the genus Hamadaea Botany and Microbiology Department, Faculty of Science, Beni-Suef University, Beni-Suef 62511, Egypt A Gram-stain-positive, aerobic and non-motile actinobacterial strain, designated YIM C0533 T , was isolated from a soil sample collected from Shiling county, Yunnan province, south-west China. The isolate grew at 15-37 8C, pH 6.0-8.0 and in the presence of 0-3 % (w/v) NaCl. The whole-cell hydrolysates contained meso-diaminopimelic acid, xylose, galactose, mannose, ribose, arabinose, glucose and rhamnose. The acyl type of muramic acid was glycolyl. The polar lipids detected were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylmethylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylinositol mannoside and an unidentified phospholipid. The major cellular fatty acids were iso-C 16 : 0 , 10-methyl C 17 : 0 and iso-C 15 : 0 .MK-9(H 6 ) was the predominant menaquinone. The genomic DNA G+C content was determined to be 69.4 mol%. These chemotaxonomic data and the morphological properties were consistent with those of the genus Hamadaea. The strain showed highest sequence similarities to Hamadaea tsunoensis CGMCC 4.1403T on phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences and was found to form a coherent cluster in the neighbour-joining tree. The DNA-DNA hybridization experiment indicated that the DNA-DNA relatedness value between strain YIM C0533 T and H. tsunoensis CGMCC 4.1403 T was 34.4¡1.3 %. In addition, the results of physiological and biochemical tests allowed the isolate to be differentiated phenotypically from H. tsunoensis CGMCC 4.1403On the basis of data from this polyphasic study, strain YIM C0533T is characterized as a novel species of the genus Hamadaea, for which the name ). An emended description of the genus Hamadaea is also provided.The genus Hamadaea belongs to the family Micromonosporaceae in the order Micromonosporales.
