Transfer and Dynamic Inversion of Coassembled Supramolecular Chirality through 2D-Sheet to Rolled-Up Tubular Structure

Abstract: Transfer and inversion of supramolecular chirality from chiral calix[4]arene analogs (3D and 3L) with an alanine moiety to an achiral bipyridine derivative (1) with glycine moieties in a coassembled hydrogel are demonstrated. Molecular chirality of 3D and 3L could transfer supramolecular chirality to an achiral bipyridine derivative 1. Moreover, addition of 0.6 equiv of 3D or 3L to 1 induced supramolecular chirality inversion of 1. More interestingly, the 2D-sheet structure of the coassembled hydrogels formed … Show more

“…The distribution of the chiral FeS 2 QDs under the chiral template of the hydrogel is the key to chirality transfer. Hydrogen bonds form between the nitrogen atoms of the capping reagent (Cys) of the FeS 2 QDs and the –COOH groups of the gelators, and are the main force driving the coassembly …”

“…In addition to undergoing interesting morphological transitions, the DA-containing PDIs experience remarkable changes in absolute configurations at the supramolecular stereogenic centers during self-assembly 52,53 . This feature was probed by monitoring time-dependent circular dichroism (CD) spectra of 10% CHCl 3 / EtOH solutions (27 μM) of 1-R and 1-S (Fig.…”

“…Supramolecular macrocycles, such as cyclodextrins, cucurbiturils, and calixarenes, have played a very important role in supramolecular chemistry (Moghaddam et al, 2011; Zhang and Wang, 2011; Jie et al, 2015; Choi et al, 2017). Compared with these traditional macrocycles, pillar[n]arenes have attracted more attention due to their unique planar chirality (Ogoshi et al, 2011b).…”
