Transcriptome analysis of woodland strawberry (Fragaria vesca) response to the infection by Strawberry vein banding virus (SVBV)

Abstract: BackgroundWoodland strawberry (Fragaria vesca) infected with Strawberry vein banding virus (SVBV) exhibits chlorotic symptoms along the leaf veins. However, little is known about the molecular mechanism of strawberry disease caused by SVBV.MethodsWe performed the next-generation sequencing (RNA-Seq) study to identify gene expression changes induced by SVBV in woodland strawberry using mock-inoculated plants as a control.ResultsUsing RNA-Seq, we have identified 36,850 unigenes, of which 517 were differentially … Show more

“…We found a lot of DEGs involved in photosynthesis pathway were affected by the CGMMV infection, indicating that these genes were also participated in the interaction networks between CGMMV and watermelon. In addition, differential expressions of photosynthesis-related genes were found in the interactions of host with TMV 55 , Cucumber mosaic virus 61 , Strawberry vein banding virus 22 , and other plant viruses at the transcriptome level.…”

“…The use of transcriptome sequencing technology for gene detection and markers in different strawberry tissues and in response to various environmental stresses has increased ( Li et al, 2013 ; Hollender et al, 2014 ; Chen et al, 2016a ; Wang et al, 2017a ). To date, RNA-Seq has also been widely used to study gene expression in the strawberry fruit development and ripening process.…”

“…MIMV is closely related to maize mosaic virus (MMV) based on nucleotide sequence identity [ 5 , 7 ]. In recent years, an increasing number of studies have focused on molecular host–virus interactions including the plant and vector transcriptome responses [ 8 10 ].…”
