Transcriptome analysis of blood and spleen in virulent and avirulent mouse malaria infection

Abstract: Malaria is a devastating infectious disease and the immune response is complex and dynamic during a course of a malarial infection. Rodent malaria models allow detailed time-series studies of the host response in multiple organs. Here, we describe two comprehensive datasets containing host transcriptomic data from both the blood and spleen throughout an acute blood stage infection of virulent or avirulent Plasmodium chabaudi infection in C57BL/6 mice. The mRNA expression profiles were ge… Show more

“…In this work, tamoxifen further increased the splenic index, particularly on day eight post-infection. This finding could be explained by the fact that by increasing parasitaemia, tamoxifen could increase antigenic stimulation in the spleen, promoting inflammation and cell recruitment in the spleen, as described by Del Portillo et al and Zhao, et al [39,40].…”

“…We did not test the SNPs of K13 using this microarray because K13 was not identified when the chip was developed. Although this custom array is not available now, some new microarrays have been developed, for example, Illumina Bead Chip microarray, protein array, or peptide array, which provide a high throughout and a powerful platform in malaria field ( Bailey et al, 2020 ; Zhao et al, 2020 ).…”
