Transcriptome analysis in Hevea brasiliensis latex revealed changes in hormone signalling pathways during ethephon stimulation and consequent Tapping Panel Dryness

Abstract: Tapping Panel Dryness (TPD) affects latex production in Hevea brasiliensis. This physiological syndrome involves the agglutination of rubber particles, which leads to partial or complete cessation of latex flow. Latex harvesting consists in tapping soft bark. Ethephon can be applied to stimulate latex flow and its regeneration in laticifers. Several studies have reported transcriptome changes in bark tissues. This study is the first report on deep RNA sequencing of latex to compare the effect of ethephon stimu… Show more

“…Differential expression analysis of RNAseq data in latex from mature trees were performed by Montoro et al (2018). Pairwise comparisons were performed between untreated and ethephon-treated healthy trees (WH vs EH) and between healthy and TPD ethephon-treated trees (EH vs ET).…”

“…The transcripts of the putative Hevea DCL1 and AGO1 orthologues (mRNA00000029 and mRNA00000323, respectively; Fig. 10) were identified, and their expression response in response to ethephon stimulation and TPD occurrence was analysed (Montoro et al, 2018) (Table S22). DCL1 expression was significantly downregulated as a result of ethephon treatment (1,591 vs. 659 reads), but not according to TPD.…”

“…Compared with healthy tree latex, the genes associated with defense response were largely upregulated in the TPD-affected tree. Montoro et al (2018) reported that analysis of differentially expressed genes were lower total of genes in TPD-affected tree than under exploitation tree. Jasmonic acid synthesis was importance pathway related TPD tolerance.…”

“…Complete tissue-specific (embryo, flower, latex, leaf, bark, root) transcriptomes were generated by (Duan et al 2013a;Piyatrakul et al 2012). Differential expression analysis of RNAseq data in latex from mature trees were performed by (Montoro et al 2018). Pairwise comparisons were performed between untreated and ethephontreated healthy trees (WH vs EH) and between healthy and TPD ethephon-treated trees (EH vs ET).…”
