“…pestis inactivation on materials Y. pestis as a result of the initial drying of the inoculum as well as the time period in which the nondecontaminated controls were maintained in parallel to the decontamination run. The implementation of both quantitative and qualitative assessments was performed based on previous studies where Y. pestis can persist from hours to days on contaminated surfaces and in the environment (Wilkinson 1966;Rose et al 2003;Sinclair et al 2008) and the LD 50 values for Y. pestis CO92 have been reported to range from 1 to 2 · 10 4 CFU that varies based on the route of exposure (Welkos et al 1995(Welkos et al , 1997Benner et al 1999;Lathem et al 2005;DeBord et al 2006;Rogers et al 2007a).
