Abstract: Cryptococcus neoformans is a pathogenic fungus that causes cryptococcosis, a significant secondary infection in immunocompromised individuals with immune-suppressive related symptoms from HIV infection and organ transplants. Fungaemia occurs via the respiratory route and spreads by tissue invasion into other body parts.
