In this paper we present the results of 3D conductive thermal modeling of the Alpine-Pannonian transition zone. The study area comprises the Vienna, Danube, Styrian and Mura-Zala basins, surrounded by the Eastern Alps, the Western Carpathians and Transdanubian Range. The model consists of three layers: Tertiary sediments, the underlying crust and lithospheric mantle. The crust and mantle were homogenous with constant thermal properties. Heat production in the sediments and crust was 1 lW/m 3. The thermal conductivity of sediments varied horizontally and vertically and based on laboratory measurements. We tested two scenarios: a steady-state and a time-dependent case. The conductive heat transport equation was solved by finite element method using Comsol Multiphysics. The results of the steady-state model fit to the observation in the northern part of the study area, but this model predicts lower heat flow density and temperatures than observed in the southern part of the study area including the Styrian basin. The area underwent lithospheric stretching during the Early-Middle Miocene time, therefore the temperature field in the lithosphere is not steady-state. We calculated the initial temperature distribution in the lithosphere at the end of rifting using non-homogeneous stretching factors, and we modeled the present day thermal field. The results of the time-dependent model fit to the observed heat flow density and temperatures, except in those areas where intensive groundwater flow occurs in the carbonatic basement of the Transdanubian Range and Northern Calcareous Alps, and the metamorphic basement high between the Mura trough and Styrian basin. We conclude that time-dependent model is able to predict the temperature field in the upper 6-8 km of the crust, and is a valuable tool in EGS exploration.

A Kárpát-medence gazdag geotermikus erőforrásai, az ezeket hordozó regionális termálvízáramlási rendszerek a terület nagy földtani szerkezeteihez igazodva több országon átnyúlva helyezkednek el. Ezek fenntartható használata csak egy határokon átnyúló, a szomszédos országokkal közösen kialakított gazdálkodási stratégiával valósulhat meg. Az elmúlt években három transznacionális projekt keretében a szomszédos országokkal közösen vizsgáltuk Magyarország ÉNy-i, Ny-i, illetve D-i és DK-i határvidékein a geotermikus energia hasznosításának lehetőségeit, a termálvíztermelés lehetséges hatásait és a hatékonyabb kihasználásukban rejlő lehetőségeket, a geotermikus rezervoárok regionális elterjedését és jellemzését.

Izvle~ekPojavi naravnih izvirov CO 2 in vode z veliko prostega plina v Sloveniji so poznani predvsem v Slovenskih goricah. S terenskim delom v letih 2014-2015 smo hidrogeološko opisali enajst izvirov vode in/ali plina: Ihovska slatina, Ivanjševska slatina, Lokavska slatina, Polička slatina, Radvenska slatina, mofeta Rihtarovci, Stavešinske Slepice, Stavešinske mofete Strmec, Ujterska slatina, Verjanska slatina in Žekš. Za pet nezajetih izvirov smo ugotovili, da lahko premer presega 4 m, globina dna pa 2 m, čeprav je njihov obseg večinoma skromnejši. Izdelali smo batimetrične 3D modele izvirnega območja ter na tlorisu označili mesta izhajanja plina in ocenili intenzivnost dotoka po subjektivni, vizualni petstopenjski lestvici. Izmerili smo tudi fizikalno-kemijske parametre vode. Opazovane pojave smo razvrstili med mofete in mineralne vode. Dve sta mokri mofeti (Polička slatina in Slepice), tri pa suhe (mofeta Rihtarovci, mofeta Strmec, mofeta pri Lokavski slatini). Iz njih stalno izhaja hladen CO 2 , površinska ali padavinska voda je kisla, v okolici pa je opazno spremenjeno rastje in/ali gola tla. Mineralna voda z nad 1 g/l skupnih raztopljenih snovi izvira v Ihovski, Ivanjševski in Radvenski slatini ter Žekšu in je bogata s prostim CO 2 z intenzivnostjo izhajanja plina 2-4. Verjanska in Ujterska slatina nista niti mofeti niti mineralni vodi. Prva je mogoče, tako kot večina, slatina, z nad 250 mg/l prostega CO 2 (CO 2 ) g . Povezave med globino dna izvira in intenzivnostjo izhajanja plina na vodni površini nismo našli. AbstractNatural CO 2 springs and groundwater rich in free gas in Slovenia occur mainly in the Slovenske gorice hills. Within the frame of fieldwork performed in 2014-2015 we investigated 11 springs: Ihovska slatina, Ivanjševska slatina, Lokavska slatina, Polička slatina, Radvenska slatina, Mofette Rihtarovci, mofettes Stavešinske Slepice, and Strmec, Ujterska slatina, Verjanska slatina and Žekš. The diameter of five uncaptured springs can exceed 4 m, with depression depths of 2 m, but most are smaller. We elaborated bathymetric 3D models of these spring areas, marked degassing locations in a plan view, and evaluated the gas flux according to a subjective, visual five-level scale. We also measured physicochemical parameters of the water. The observed phenomena were classified among mofettes and mineral waters. Two are wet mofettes (Polička slatina and Slepice) and three dry mofettes (Rihtarovci, Strmec, mofette at Lokavska slatina). These constantly emit cold CO 2 , hold acid surface or meteoric water, and bare soil or changed vegetation may also be present. Mineral water consisting of more than 1 g/l of total dissolved solids surfaces at Ihovska, Ivanjševska and Radvenska slatina, and Žekš. It is rich in free CO 2 , having a flux intensity of 2-4. Verjanska slatina and Ujterska slatina are neither mofettes nor mineral waters. The first, like most others, may be a slatina, having more than 250 mg/l of free CO 2 (CO 2 ) g .
