“…The tissue quality, elasticity and handling of THCs are satisfactory, and they have been previously used for teaching and urological skills training (12). The efficacy and role of training using THCs were also reported in other departments (12)(13)(14)(15)(16)(17). Furthermore, the validity and reliability of THCs have also been reported in transperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy training (18), as well as in various advanced laparoscopic training courses for colon, hernia and bariatric surgery (10).…”

“…We extended our fusion-elastography work on soft embalmed cadavers that showed that trainees were more likely to diagnose intraneural injection using fusion elastography. 4 Our current study proved more difficult because the trainees were expected to recognise low-volume tissue changes. Therefore, it is unsurprising that the trainees could only recognise 62% of distractor patterns compared with 80% of intraneural injections as in our previous study.…”

“…Elastography and its applicability to the diagnosis of intraneural injection are described in detail in previous papers. 4,6 In summary, our engineer converted colour elastography video frames to filtered and despeckled black-and-white images using MATLAB software (MathWorks, Natick, MA, USA) and a grayscale threshold tool. Enhanced elastography patterns were fused onto corresponding B-mode images.…”

“…We believe that in addition to assistance in the evaluation of saphenous injury, and entrapment, SWE could offer extra information of nerve/tissue elasticity alongside conventional ultrasound, thus improving the visibility of the block needle tip/shaft and decreasing the incidence of unintentional intravascular local anesthetic and intraneural puncture. [ 21 , 22 ]…”
