Traffic Sensors

Abstract: Traffic sensors are key to traffic surveillance, signal control, and incident detection to ensure traffic safety and the operational efficiency of a transportation system. Various traffic sensors have been developed in recent decades, with the rapid development of electronic, communication, and computer technologies. This entry introduces some mainstream and emerging traffic sensors, and their associated advantages and limitations.
