Air quality improved due to a sudden reduction in the mass concentration of criteria pollutants (PM 2.5 , PM 10 , NO x , CO, SO 2 ) except ozone (O 3 ) over cities of the world during the novel coronavirus diseases (COVID-19) lockdown. Such reduction in pollutants concentration during the lockdown period is an indicator of pollutants contributed from human-induced sources. The elevated ozone level during the lockdown period is explained by shifted NOx-mediated reaction towards volatile organic carbon (VOCs) mediated reaction. The reduction in pollutants concentration and improved air quality is not uniform for outdoor and indoor environments. The indoor air quality is quite poor compared to outdoor throughout the lockdown period. The degradation in indoor air quality is associated with increased human activities and the degree of ventilation inside the home. The number of active COVID-19 cases is associated with air quality over a region. The improved air quality helped in a reduction in COVID-19 virus transmission among the people. Present review articles provide detailed insight into current research progress, the impact of lockdowns on outdoor and indoor air quality in different cities of the world. Further, this review articles provide a detailed overview of an elevated O 3 level during the lockdown period and the mechanism of formation.

Introduction: Due to the restrictions of mobility during the first months of the pandemic, an improvement in the environment was observed, but this has not been estimated from the perspective of mental health. Aim: To determine whether mental health and other factors were associated with the perception of the improvement of the environment after the first months of the pandemic in Latin America. Methodology: Analytical and multicenter cross-sectional study. Four questions were asked about their perception of change in the environment after a quarter of the pandemic, Alpha of Cronbach: 0,96). Results: Descriptive and analytical statistics were obtained. In the multivariate analysis, an association of a greater perception of environmental change was found according to having moderate or severe stress (RPa: 1,16; IC95%: 1,05-1,28; valor p=0,003) and live in Bolivia (RPa: 1,24; IC95%: 1,10-1,40; valor p<0,001); In contrast, there was less perception of change among men. (RPa: 0,84; IC95%: 0,78-0,90; valor p<0,001), among the youngest (RPa: 0,995; IC95%: 0,992-0,998; valor p=0,003), among those living in Mexico (RPa: 0,80; IC95%: 0,69-0,93; valor p=0,003) and other Latin American countries (RPa: 0,64; IC95%: 0,43-0,98; valor p=0,039), adjusted for level of education and having anxiety. Discussion: The environment changed due to the lack of human activity, but this perception was also associated with mental health status. Conclusion: A greater perception of environmental change was associated with having moderate/severe stress and living in Bolivia; there was less perception of change among men, in younger men, depending on living in Mexico or in other Latin American countries.

This paper presents a new Edge-AI algorithm for real-time and multi-feature (social distancing, mask detection, and facial temperature) measurement to minimize the spread of COVID-19 among individuals. COVID-19 has extenuated the need for an intelligent surveillance video system that can monitor the status of social distancing, mask detection, and measure the temperature of faces simultaneously using deep learning (DL) models. In this research, we utilized the fusion of three different YOLOv4-tiny object detectors for each task of the integrated system. This DL model is used for object detection and targeted for real-time applications. The proposed models have been trained for different data sets, which include people detection, mask detection, and facial detection for measuring the temperature, and evaluated on these existing data sets. Thermal and visible cameras have been used for the proposed approach. The thermal camera is used for social distancing and facial temperature measurement, while a visible camera is used for mask detection. The proposed method has been executed on NVIDIA platforms to assess algorithmic performance. For evaluation of the trained models, accuracy, recall, and precision have been measured. We obtained promising results for real-time detection for human recognition. Different couples of thermal and visible cameras and different NVIDIA edge platforms have been adopted to explore solutions with different trade-offs between cost and performance. The multi-feature algorithm is designed to monitor the individuals continuously in the targeted environments, thus reducing the impact of COVID-19 spread.
