Traffic-Aware Two-Stage Queueing Communication Networks: Queue Analysis and Energy Saving

Abstract: To boost energy saving for the general delay-tolerant IoT networks, a two-stage and single-relay queueing communication scheme is investigated. Concretely, a traffic-aware Nthreshold and gated-service policy are applied at the relay. As two fundamental and significant performance metrics, the mean waiting time and long-term expected power consumption are explicitly derived and related with the queueing and service parameters, such as packet arrival rate, service threshold and channel statistics. Besides, we ta… Show more

“…On one hand, due to limitation of computing resource, offloading by much members increase the computing delay. On the other hand, the more data a member offloads, the longer the transmission delay [19]- [22]. Thirdly, it's difficult to realize the centralized decision-making due to the largescale nature of UAV networks [23]- [26].…”

“…Physical layer security has become one of the constraints when data offloading occurs in the MEC system. Thus, it's critical to design an energy-efficient [25,26] and secure data offloading framework. However, the main way to avoid eavesdropping is to apply jamming signals or change the transmission power in existing work.…”

“…This modulation method based on superimposed pilot sequence can be further applied to channel estimation [24]. Although this method also did not occupy the channel resources of the transmission system, it wastes some useful power [25]. When SNR is 6dB, to provide good synchronization performance, the power of the synchronization sequence needs to occupy more than half of the total power per symbol which will cause the increasing of BER of data sequence.…”
