Traditional Chinese Medicine for Essential Hypertension: A Clinical Evidence Map

Abstract: We systematically retrieved and summarised clinical studies on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for the prevention and treatment of essential hypertension (EH) using the evidence map. We aimed to explore the evidence distribution, identify gaps in evidence, and inform on future research priorities. Clinical studies, systematic reviews, guidelines, and pathway studies related to TCM for the prevention and treatment of EH, published between January 2000 and December 2019, were included from databases CNKI, Wan… Show more

“…The traditional Chinese herbal medicine formulas have low toxicity and have multi-target activity for preventing or treating various diseases, including cardiovascular disease ( Zhang et al, 2020b ), endocrine disease ( Zhang et al, 2020a ), hematologic disease ( Chiu et al, 2021 ) and cancers ( Lu et al, 2021 ), etc. The occurrence and development of CRC is thought to be the results of a combination of multiples genes, factors, stages ( Li et al, 2015 ), which indicates that the multi-component and multi-target activity of Chinese medicine seems to be more beneficial to the treatment of CRC individuals ( Wang et al, 2021b ; Sun et al, 2021 ).…”

“…Therefore, this study aims to reevaluate systematic reviews and meta-analyses, adopt the evidence mapping method, integrate the evidence from various research, and comprehensively sort out the problems in the research topic, thus depicting the whole picture of the research field [ 6 ]. No evidence map of T2DM has been published in the field of TCM.…”
