Abstract:O presente artigo analisa o modo como o escritor Mário de Andrade compreendeu a noção de cultura popular. Leva-se em conta não apenas sua perspectiva teórica, mas também sua militância em prol da valorização e preservação das tradições coletivas. Assim, a partir da apresentação de um panorama geral acerca da ideia de cultura popular, busca-se mostrar como o autor, primeiramente, concebeu e pesquisou as expressões do povo, para, em seguida, empreender uma série de ações em favor das mesmas.
