Tracking the Stepwise Formation of a Water-Soluble Fluorescent Tb12 Cluster for Efficient Doxorubicin Detection

Abstract: Doxorubicin (DOX) is an anthraquinone drug used for the efficient treatment of a variety of tumors in human beings. Unfortunately, its poor biodegradability causes incomplete metabolism in the body. Therefore, it is of great significance to synthesize a sensitive and selective material for DOX detection. In this paper, we report a water-soluble Tb12 cluster and track its step-by-step formation (L → Tb1L1 → Tb2L1 → Tb2L2 → Tb3L2 → Tb4L2 → Tb12L6). Tb12 can be used to determine the presence of DOX, which quenche… Show more

“…When Tb 3+ is introduced, the free –COOH groups in the framework of Zn-CP can form a coordination bond with Tb 3+ , and then the characteristic emission of Tb 3+ ions can be sensitized. As expected, the emission spectrum of Tb 3+ @Zn-CP shows the characteristic bands of the Tb 3+ ions at 489, 546, 591, and 623 nm, corresponding to the 5 D 4 → 7 F J ( J = 6–3) transitions of Tb 3+ , 64,65 respectively (Fig. 2a).…”

“…Our recent studies mainly focused on the assembly process, luminescence response properties, and molecule magnet of these lanthanide covalent organic macrocycles. A common method for constructing lanthanide covalent organic macrocycles is the use of covalent organic macrocycle ligands that can react with metal ions . To propose a more detailed assembly mechanism, we constructed lanthanide covalent organic macrocycle covalent/coordination dual-driven from some self-assembled inorganic/organic species, which connected each other to rings. , The assembled intermediates can be identified with high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HRESI-MS) to clarify the stepwise assembly process between organic subcomponents and metal templates. …”

“…20 ESI-MS has been used to track the formation of polyoxometalate and metal clusters in solution. 21–23 Cronin et al used mass spectrometry to observe the formation of hybrid polyoxometalates in real-time and supramolecular transformations from {Co II 13 } to {Co II 12 } nanoclusters. 24,25 Our group observed the formation of the {Fe 5 } cluster using time-dependent high resolution ESI-MS. 26 However, the usage of ESI-MS to track the stepwise formation process of MOMs and explore the template effect is rarely reported.…”
