Tracking multiple extended targets with multi‐Bernoulli filter

Abstract: This study presents an improved multi-target multi-Bernoulli (IMeMBer) gamma Gaussian inverse Wishart (GGIW) filter for tracking multiple extended targets (ETs). The main contribution of this study consists of three parts, first, a novel method is proposed to obtain the unbiased cardinality estimation of multiple targets using the multi-Bernoulli recursion. As a variation of the existing cardinality-balanced MeMBer (CBMeMBer) filter, the presented filter is called the improved MeMBer filter, which overcomes th… Show more

“…In the most recent research for ET tracking [2,9,10,14,15,22,[24][25][26], the shape model of an ET is usually assumed by the RMM because it is an optimum combination of an informative model for ET and low computational complexity. In the framework of RMM, the extended state is modelled by a symmetric-positive definite (SPD) random matrix to simplify the extension of ET as an ellipsoid.…”

“…During the last decades, joint detection and tracking for multiple extended targets (ETs) is always a challenging problem in modern radar systems [1–12]; especially for extended stealth targets (ESTs) [1]. Modern sensors (e.g.…”
