Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (Lyell's Disease)

Abstract: SUMMARY Two cases of “toxic epidermal necrolysis” with a fatal outcome are reported. The histological features have been assessed and it is believed that in this condition bullae form as a result of coalescence of intra‐epidermal vesicles which themselves have formed from the rupture of numerous intracellular vacuoles. Acantholysis did not occur.
